Worlds of Fun donates over $1 Million of tickets to Children’s Mercy Hospital

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Worlds of Fun and Children’s Mercy announced this season that four complimentary single-day tickets will be given to every inpatient admitted to the hospital.

Patients from the main Adele Hall and Kansas locations will receive the tickets.

Worlds of Fun estimates that the total donation is worth over $1 million, which makes it the largest ticket donation in the park’s history.

The park said it will host a special park takeover exclusively for Children’s Mercy on May 17. “Up & Away: Children’s Mercy Night at Worlds of Fun” will be open to any patient and their family who was recently cared for at a Children’s Mercy Hospital or Clinic in the Kansas City area.

“We are thrilled to create a special Worlds of Fun experience to inspire hope, bravery, and joy for patient families at Children’s Mercy. We want to create moments that make people happy, and this partnership allows us to accomplish that,” Worlds of Fun General Manager and Vice President Rick Fiedler said.

Last year, the park and the hospital teamed up for the Zambezi Zinger First Rider Expedition fundraiser in 2023 and raised $20,000 for pediatric cancer research in conjunction with Big Slick.

“Community champions like Worlds of Fun power our nonprofit hospital mission, and this partnership will bring kids and families much-needed joy,” Children’s Mercy Chief Development Officer Jenea Oliver said.

“Together we’re helping kids get back to doing what they do best – be kids!”

This partnership will start when Worlds of Fun opens to the public for the season on May 4.
