World’s oldest man dies just shy of 115th birthday

(WJW) – The world’s oldest man has died just a month before his 115th birthday.

Guinness World Records announced the death of Juan Vicente Perez on its website.

Perez was born on May 27, 1909.

He was named the world’s oldest man in February 2022 at the age of 112, according to Guinness.

Perez attributed his long life to “working hard, resting on holidays, going to bed early, drinking a glass of aguardiente every day, loving God, and always carrying him in his heart.”

The governor of Tachira, Venezuela, where Perez lived, posted about his passing on social media.

“Our dear Juan Vicente Perez Mora, today with deep sadness and pain we say goodbye to you, to that archetype of a man from Tachira, humble, hard-working, peaceful, enthusiastic about family and tradition,” Freddy Barnal wrote.

“He will always be a symbol of goodness, wisdom and joy, which is why his legacy will live forever in our hearts and in our lives…”Rest in peace my dear old man, my Don Juan Vicente. We will never forget you.”
