‘World has changed:’ Horry Co. nightclub owner reacts after double shooting at business

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The owner of a popular Myrtle Beach-area night club says he’ll review security procedures and likely change business hours in the aftermath of a weekend shooting that one person critically injured.

“If we could have stopped it before it happened we would have done so. It was between two people that were dead set on killing each other,” 3001 Nightlife owner Roger Davisson posted on the company’s Facebook page Sunday night. “They were shooting at each other and not the club. I am very thankful no innocent customers were injured in the altercation.”

The Horry County Police Department said two people were hurt — one critically — after an exchange of gunfire just before 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Authorities didn’t name the business beyond identifying an address “off of Lake Arrowhead,” which is outside of Myrtle Beach.

Davisson is a well-known figure in Horry County’s entertainment scene, managing venues in the area for decades.

“I have been doing this for 44 years and I can tell you the club world has changed and people in whole have changed,” he said on Facebook. ” We will look at the problem, look at the time of the problems and do our best to change some things that will make it safer for the customers and for our employees.”

Davisson said 3001 Nightlife will be open this weekend.

“In the next couple weeks we will be changing some formats and some times the club will be open. We hope we can eliminate this problem and hope to see everyone back this weekend,” he wrote.
