Workweek begins with spring warmth across the state

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Hey Utah, happy Monday! As we start the workweek, we’ll build off of what we had to close the weekend.

Across the state we’ll see mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies through the first half of the day as temperatures warm to about 5-10 degrees above seasonal averages. Most outside of the high country will see 70s-80s while places like Park City reach the upper 60s. On the other side of the coin, St. George will be the warm spot by reaching the low 90s. Our weather will become a little unsettled by the second half of the day though thanks to a weak system dropping in from the northwest. This will bring a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms for most other than southernmost Utah. Showers and storm will mainly favor the high terrain with only a slight chance in the lower elevations this afternoon into this evening.

Two more weak systems will brush by Utah as we move through Tuesday and Wednesday. These systems will help keep a slight chance of showers in the forecast across the state and like today, that best chance will continue to be over the mountains. Outside of any showers, skies will continue to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Daytime highs will also ease down slightly, meaning most will be within a few degrees of seasonal norms for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

High pressure will return for the latter half of the week. Ample sunshine and warming temperatures will once again take over. Daytime highs will reach the upper 70s for northern Utah, possibly 80 degrees for Salt Lake on Friday. The warmth will likely stick around into this weekend, however, we could become a little unsettled once again this time next week. Stay tuned!

The bottom line? The workweek begins with spring warmth across the state, but a few weak systems will keep us a little unsettled.
