Investigators are looking into the death of a man found in north Fort Collins on Wednesday.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said in a Friday news release that a maintenance worker found a body in a ditch at U.S. Highway 287 and Taft Hill Road around 12:20 p.m. April 10.

The body was taken to the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.

Evidence at the scene allowed investigators to determine a possible name and a family contact for the man, according to the news release.

Forensic confirmation is still pending but the family has been notified. The coroner's office will release his identity and cause and manner of death, pending toxicology results, at a later date.

The preliminary investigation and autopsy did not reveal obvious signs of foul play, but investigators are still working to determine how the man died.

Anyone with information, who has not already spoken with law enforcement, is asked to contact Investigator Marcus Simelane at (970) 498-5515. People who want to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at (970) 221-6868 or www.crimestopperslarimer.org/

"Our investigators and forensics team had very little information when they arrived at this scene,'' Captain Bobby Moll, who leads the sheriff's office Investigation Division, said in the release. "They quickly gathered details and evidence to start getting a clearer picture. While there’s still a lot of work to be done, I appreciate the rapid response that allowed them to begin the process of getting answers for a grieving family,''
