Word of the Day: Cory Booker explains 'freedom' to Bert

Two of your favorite SXSW attendees, Senator Cory Booker and Sesame Street's Bert, just shared a touching moment live on Twitter.

After his eventful panel, Booker stopped by Day Two of "The Mashable Show" – an exclusive 90-minute Twitter live stream of all things SXSW – to chat with Co-host Bert about the Word of the Day: freedom.

To honor Sesame Street's 'Word of the Day' segment, Mashable's Jessica Coen asked Booker to explain what the word "freedom" means to him.

After fulfilling one of Booker's life-long dreams, taking a selfie with a Sesame Street character, the senator dropped some serious knowledge at The Mash House.

"It means many things," Booker began before lunging into a deep explanation that left Bert exclaiming, "wow." Booker explained that he's recently been thinking about freedom "from" other things such as "deprivation, poverty and fear."

"I think that too many of our young people are growing up in environments of anxiety and worry because they're afraid of healthcare, they're afraid of not having enough money to afford the rent," he went on, to which Bert simply replied, "wow ...wow."

"You know what freedom means to me? Being able to read any book I want without being interrupted by Ernie," Bert said, making Booker chuckle.
