Wood County Jail inmate found dead

QUITMAN, Texas (KETK) – The Wood County Sheriff’s Office announced that an inmate of the Wood County Jail died on Thursday.

AFFIDAVIT: Two men charged in weekend kidnapping of Tyler man, demanding $10,000 ransom

According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, an inmate that was booked the day before was found unresponsive and the jail staff began life saving measures until EMS arrived. Officials said that the inmate was taken to a hospital by EMS where they were pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office said that the cause of death is currently unknown and their identity is currently withheld. Texas Rangers have been contacted and will conduct an in-custody death report.
