Wonder Woman Features Another DC Superhero?

It looks as though Wonder Woman might not be the only hero in her first solo outing… as Saïd Taghmaoui hints that he may be playing a superhero.

During an interview with Ultra (via Comic Book Movie) the 42-year-old French American actor hinted at a super-powered role in the upcoming ‘Wonder Woman’ film.

“I’ll be playing a good-guy superhero,” he said. “But details are still under wraps, so I can’t tell you much.”

However, he did reveal that he would be put through his paces for the role…

“I was among hundreds of potential candidates, and I slowly became the favourite,” he said. “It wasn’t easy. It took me three months. [I’ll have to go through] extensive physical training. Shooting was slated to begin in November, and will take about six months, in four different countries.”

Saïd Taghmaoui is perhaps best known as Omar in the Don Cheadle/Guy Pearce Spy Thriller, ‘Traitor’. But he’s appeared in numerous big screen roles including many French-language films as well as ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra’ and even ‘American Hustle’.

But who will he be playing in ‘Wonder Woman’?

At the moment, we have no idea… but considering he recently revealed a set photo of himself alongside Chris Pine in what seems to be period clothing, it seems there might be a hint towards the old Justice Society.

The Justice Society of America first appeared in the comic books in 1940… and was later reinvented as the Justice League. Featuring DC staples such as Flash, Green Lantern and even Doctor Fate, it would be a nice touch to see the Justice Society appear on the big screen.

And considering Wonder Woman’s former connection to the group, it could even be the reason why the super-heroine bands together with Batman and Superman to form the modern big screen Justice League.

If this is the case, it opens up a few possibilities for Saïd Taghmaoui – most likely either Doctor Fate or maybe even The Spectre.

But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Wonder Woman’ heads to cinemas on 23 June 2017.
