'Wonder Wheel': Watch Kate Winslet get a shock in Woody Allen's nostalgic drama (exclusive)

There’s nothing like the boardwalk in summer: the smell of fried food, the shouts of the carnival barkers, the shock when your husband’s estranged daughter shows up at the clam restaurant where you work. Or maybe that last thing is particular to Wonder Wheel, Woody Allen‘s new drama set in 1950s Coney Island. In the exclusive clip above, Carolina (Juno Temple) navigates the old-timey Brooklyn attractions to find Ginny (Kate Winslet), the actress-turned-waitress who’s married to Carolina’s father, Humpty (Jim Belushi). As Ginny will soon discover, Carolina is on the run from her own husband, a gangster who has threatened her life. A thoughtful lifeguard played by Justin Timberlake completes the quartet of characters at the center of Allen’s film, his 48th feature. The drama will close the New York FIlm Festival on Oct. 14, following an event honoring Winslet on Oct. 13.

Wonder Wheel opens in select theaters on Dec. 1.
