Women and minorities in Trump’s Cabinet? Transition team’s Rep. Marsha Blackburn says, ‘Absolutely.’

Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Yahoo News and Finance Anchor Bianna Golodryga on Friday that she expects to see a diverse group of people appointed to senior roles in the coming Trump administration.

“Are you going to see women? Are you going to see minorities? Absolutely,” Blackburn said after Golodryga noted that of the few Trump Cabinet appointees who have been announced so far, all are white men. “They’re going to round out this administration and this Cabinet because there are women who are the most well-qualified individuals for these jobs.”

Blackburn, who recently joined President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, said that while she has not personally been approached about a Cabinet position, she has happily pushed forward the résumés of “about a dozen women” who, she said, have expressed interest in a variety of high-level administration positions.

“To be able to champion them, I really appreciated that,” she said.
