Woman walking dog struck, killed by truck in south Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman walking a dog was struck and killed by a truck Wednesday night in south Las Vegas. Las Vegas Metropolitan police said glare from the setting sun likely contributed to the crash.

The crash was reported around 6:30 p.m. on East Shelbourne Avenue near South Las Vegas Boulevard and Windmill Lane.

Police said evidence showed that the 52-year-old woman was walking on Shelborne and was hit from behind by a Ford F-150. She was transported to UMC where she died from her injuries.

The crash is under investigation. Police said the truck’s driver remained at the scene and didn’t show signs of impairment.

The woman’s identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office. Her death is the 39th traffic-related in Metro’s jurisdiction.
