A young woman in Ireland made a bad situation a whole lot worse after she bit a detective who was releasing her following a June 24 traffic incident, according to the Irish Times.
Authorities found Megan McQuaide, 18, standing in the middle of a road following a car accident, shouting at emergency responders and acting erratically.
She was taken to a nearby hospital accompanied by police because of her belligerent behavior and was eventually arrested and brought to a police station due to her aggression towards hospital staff.
While McQuaide was being released into her grandmother's care, she bit into a female detective's chest, breaking through two layers of clothing and a layer of the officer's skin.
“If you can’t beat them, eat them!” she shouted during the attack.
McQuaide later pleaded guilty to public order and assault charges brought against her.
Patsy Gallagher, McQuaide's lawyer, said his client has a severe history of prescription and non-prescription drug abuse, which he believes influenced the bizarre incident.
“She was in a drug-confused hell, but she is in a very different place today and is trying her best,” he said.
