Woman shoots, kills brother during money dispute in East Nashville, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A woman is in custody after she allegedly shot and killed her brother Sunday during an argument over money in East Nashville, officials said.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), the shooting happened on Sunday, April 14 outside a residence on Levy Lane.

Authorities reported an investigation revealed Monica Wilson, 38, and her brother Michael Wilson, 40, were outside a relative’s townhome and were engaged in an argument over money.

At some point during the argument, police said Monica shot Michael in the head. According to MNPD, she remained at the scene and was detained by East Precinct officers.

Meanwhile, Michael was rushed to Skyline Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, officials said.

During an interview at MNPD Headquarters, she reportedly told detectives that her brother had “an outstanding personal debt with her.”

The investigation also revealed that Michael was not armed with a weapon during the altercation, according to an arrest report.

Monica Wilson was arrested and charged with criminal homicide. Booking records show she remains jailed on a $100,000 bond.

No other information about the incident was immediately released.
