Woman sentenced for attacking boyfriend with frying pan, hammer

A woman suspected of attacking her boyfriend with a hammer and frying pan was sentenced to eight years in prison Thursday morning in Kern County Superior Court.

Angela Hagar, 43, pleaded no contest to one count of mayhem, leading to the dismissal of three counts of assault with a deadly weapon intended to cause great bodily injury, one count of aggravated mayhem, one count of torture and one count of inflicting corporal injury on a partner.

According to the probable cause statement submitted by the Kern County Sheriff’s Office to the courts, Hagar attacked her boyfriend on April 6, 2023 with her dog. She tried to strangle her boyfriend in his sleep and when he woke up, Hagar ordered her dog to attack him, according to the statement.

As the dog attacked the victim, she then hit him in the face with a frying pan and in the legs with a hammer, according to the statement. Hagar then walked outside as the dog continued to attack her boyfriend. She was later arrested in the 13000 block of Paradise Valley Road in Tehachapi.
