Woman pleads guilty after student brings meth to East Texas school as ‘candy’

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KETK) – A woman pleaded guilty to drug trafficking-related charges after a student reportedly brought meth to an East Texas elementary school.

33-year-old Shatoya Doggett pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute meth and aiding and abetting on Wednesday.

Prosecutors said the investigation started on Dec. 5, 2019 when a student at Fredonia Elementary in Nacogdoches reportedly brought meth to school, offering it to other children as “candy.”

“Law enforcement executed a search warrant at Doggett’s residence and located controlled substances, including methamphetamine and cocaine, and evidence of drug trafficking, including scales and currency,” according to prosecutors.

Doggett could be sentenced to up to 20 years in federal prison.
