Woman killed after rock is thrown through windshield in Burke County: NCSHP

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A woman was killed after a rock was thrown through her windshield in Burke County, according to NC State Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to calls regarding the incident around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, along Conley Road by Jeeter Carswell Road.

Brittany Ferguson, 23, of Morganton, was found suffering from injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

An initial investigation stated that Ferguson was driving when a rock was thrown through her front windshield resulting in a fatal head injury.

Witnesses told troopers a white Chevy S10 single-cab pickup was seen in the area driving back and forth following the collision with someone riding in the bed of the truck.
