Texas woman killed while at red light in Fresno County. One driver arrested, CHP says

One woman was killed and two others were injured Saturday night in a three-vehicle collision in Fresno County.

The crash happened at 8:30 p.m. at Highway 41 and Manning Avenue.

California Highway Patrol Sgt. Trevor Clark said a white Camaro stopped at a red light at Manning Avenue and a gray Nissan was behind the Camaro when a white F-250 collided into the rear of the Nissan and forced the vehicles into the intersection.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the Nissan was taken to a local hospital with major injuries.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as 65-year-old Mary Hardin of Helotes, Texas, located near San Antonio.

The coroner said Hardin was in the Central Valley serving as part of a Mormon mission.

The driver of the Camaro and F-250 were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, Clark said.

The investigation is underway, but Clark said it appears alcohol was a factor in the collision. The 54-year-old driver in the F-250 was arrested under suspicion of DUI and was booked into Fresno County jail

The intersection was closed for three hours.
