Woman hits power pole, crashes into stop sign, ends up in Fresno County canal

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman who crashed into a power pole and caused a localized power outage ended up driving her SUV into a canal Tuesday morning in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers say a woman was driving westbound on McKinley Avenue near De Wolf Avenue around 9 a.m. when she crossed over into the opposite lane hit a power pole and knocked down wires.

Investigators say she continued to travel down the road taking out a stop sign and ending up in a dry canal.

According to PG&E, the damage caused a localized power outage which cut off electricity to around 150 customers.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The identity of the driver was not officially released.
