Woman found dead in Outer Cove was victim of homicide, RNC says

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says a death officers consider suspicious has now been deemed a homicide, and the police force is issuing a public plea for assistance.
An adult woman was found dead at an abandoned property on Liam Drive around mid-morning Tuesday in the community of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove after officers responded to a 911 call.
On Wednesday, RNC Const. James Cadigan told reporters the victim has been identified but would not release her name.
Investigators also have a suspect who is known to the deceased woman, Cadigan added, but he would not comment on the relationship. He said there is no threat to public safety as a result of the homicide, which he said was a targeted attack.

Cadigan said the dead woman was last seen in the area of Middleton Street in the east end of St. John's between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Cadigan also revealed that a blue Hyundai Elantra may be involved. He said the vehicle travelled from Middleton Street to Liam Drive on Tuesday morning, where the woman's body was discovered.
A car matching that description was parked across the road from the vacant dwelling Tuesday, cordoned off with police tape.
The RNC is requesting help from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious Tuesday morning and is asking for any security video that might show the Elantra travelling from Middleton Street to Liam Drive.
Cadigan said the chief medical examiner will determine the cause of death. He would not provide any details about why investigators believe it was a homicide, what type of weapons may have been involved, or any background on the suspect.
