Woman dies after stabbing on Scott Drive in Wappinger; suspect in custody

WAPPINGER — Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman on Scott Drive in Wappinger on Sunday night.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said a woman was stabbed at a home around 5:40 p.m. Sunday. She was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The suspect fled the scene but was later taken into custody in the city of Poughkeepsie, police said, and there is no threat to public safety.

Police have not released any other details on the victim, the suspect or what led to the stabbing.
