Woman dies, man seriously injured after Wednesday crash

Apr. 6—A Braymer, Missouri, woman is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Caldwell County on Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 2:30 p.m. five miles east of Lathrop on Missouri Highway 116 when a 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by 78-year-old Dennis Huffman, also of Braymer, went off the side of the road. He overcorrected, causing the vehicle to skid off the road into a ditch and rotate 180 degrees, coming to rest on its wheels, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

The driver and an occupant were taken to Liberty Hospital, where passenger Marilyn Huffman, 84, was pronounced dead just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Dennis Huffman suffered serious injuries in the accident.

Neither of the Huffmans was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the crash report.
