Four other people were taken to the hospital – two of them had injuries that were considered to be serious, but non-life-threatening.

The area of Mallard Dr. and Laurel Bowie Rd. was closed as officials investigated.

A Laurel man that walks along the road very often says he was driving with his wife on Sunday when he saw the aftermath. He says a lot of accidents happen on that road, and drivers have to be careful as they merge into one lane.

“I’ve seen numerous accidents. They’ve got to be careful coming through here because the cars come down here fast and you have to watch and be careful and judge your speed,” he told DC News Now.
