Woman dies after early morning crash in Salina

SALINA, Kan. (KSNW) — A woman is dead after crashing a car into a power pole and tree in Salina.

It happened shortly after 12:30 Friday morning on Belmont near Mayfair Drive. Police say a 21-year-old woman was driving south on Belmont in a 2012 Jaguar when she failed to negotiate the curve in the roadway and crashed into an Evergy power pole and then a tree.

Crop-duster hits power lines in Sumner County

The woman died at the scene.

Her 22-year-old passenger had to be pulled from the car. EMS took her to Salina Regional Hospital in critical condition.

Police say speed was a factor in the crash.
