Woman dies after alleged road rage crash in Massachusetts

HOPKINTON, Mass. (WJW) – A 26-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in an alleged road rage incident that happened in Massachusetts on Thursday.

According to a press release from the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, 36-year-old Ryan Sweatt has been charged in connection to striking the woman with his car in Hopkinton.

A preliminary investigation showed that Sweatt was driving a Honda Civic on State Route 85 when he “became engaged in an apparent road rage incident with another vehicle,” according to the release.

According to the release, some of the people who were inside the other vehicle, including the victim, got out of the car. That is when Sweatt made a U-turn at a high speed and hit the victim in the roadway.

The victim was taken to the hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries, according to a Boston.com report.

According to Boston.com, the victim was identified as Destini Decoff.

According to a GoFundMe page made by her loved ones, Decoff died on Friday.

“On April 6th, Destini was tragically taken from us after being intentionally struck by a vehicle. Her family is asking for help with the cost of her final arrangements. Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,” the GoFundMe page said.

Sweatt was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, operating to endanger and a marked lanes violation, according to the release.
