Woman dead after crash in Montgomery County, police say

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Police said that one woman died after a serious crash that closed roads in Montgomery County on Monday afternoon.

In a post on the platform X, formerly Twitter, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Pete Piringer said that crews were at a crash at Layhill Road and Bonifant Road.

Piringer said there was an entrapment and several people needed to be evaluated, with crews reporting that one person had priority one trauma.

The Montgomery County Department of Police said officers responded around 2:30 p.m. for the crash. Two cars were involved. A woman who was driving one car died there while the other driver, a man, was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said Bonifant Road was closed near Layhill Road. Officials advised drivers to find another route and said to expect “significant delays” in the area.
