Woman charged with stalking, killing man shot to death in Durham

Durham police investigators have arrested and charged a middle-age woman with killing a man in late March.

Police responded just after 1:30 a.m. March 28 to a report of a gunshot wound in the 3400 block of Old Chapel Hill Road.

They found 43-year-old Samuel Carr, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Antoniquette Rigsbee, 47, has been charged with murder, first-degree kidnapping, and stalking, according to a news release. She was indicted on those charges May 6 and turned herself in at the Durham County Jail on Monday where she is being held without bail, according to court records.

As of May 11, the most recent statistics available there had been 16 reported homicides in Durham this year. That was down from 18 homicides by the same time last year at this time and equal to 16 homicides the year before that.
