Woman charged with first-degree murder in Wichita shooting

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Charges have been filed in connection to a shooting that killed Norman E. Carter III on Tuesday.

Amunique Cavitt was charged by a judge with first-degree murder; intentional and premeditated, on Friday.

The shooting happened in the 1400 block of N. Minnesota St. around 12:11 p.m. on April 23. The Wichita Police Department said officers arrived and found Carter with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Lifesaving measures were attempted by officers until EMS arrived and transported Carter to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cavitt’s next court date is scheduled for May 10. Her bond is currently set at $1 million.
