Woman’s body found encased in concrete in basement of abandoned Philadelphia house

Police said a woman’s body has been found in concrete in the basement of an abandoned home in Philadelphia.

A search for the woman’s remains began last week after police received a tip that a woman who had been missing for eight years was buried in the basement.

Police had to clear an extensive amount of hoarded material and debris from the house before starting their search.

Bone fragments from a human foot were found last Thursday under about four feet on concrete. As the search continued into this week, a bag with the rest of the woman’s remains was found on Monday.

Neighbors said the family who lives in the house had not been seen for multiple days.

The woman has not been identified, but police believe they know who she is.

“The girl has been missing eight years,” one neighbor told ABC 6. “The family was in and out of there all the time. At least they finally found her.”

“It’s scary. I don’t know what happened in that house,” another neighbor said.

Investigators will now have to determine whether the woman died of natural causes or was killed before she was buried in the basement.
