Woman arrested for stealing purse from car in Palestine

PALESTINE, Texas (KETK) — The Palestine Police Department said a woman was arrested for stealing a purse from a vehicle on Monday.

According to a release, police were dispatched to Jag’s at 500 E. Palestine Avenue in reference to an alleged burglary of a vehicle at around 12:41 a.m. The victim reportedly told police “an unknown person had entered her vehicle and taken her purse while she was inside the business.”

Officers reviewed the business’s security footage and were able to get a description of the suspect and identified her as Tamara Donnell, 45 of Palestine. Donnell was later found at another gas station in the 3800 block of W. Oak.

When officers spoke to Donnell, they reportedly found “cash taken from the stolen purse.” The purse was later recovered from a dumpster at another gas station.

Donnell was taken to the Anderson County Jail and arrested for burglary of a vehicle and theft of property and was held on a $15,000 bond.
