Woman accused of stabbing employee of Vacaville business

(KRON) — A Vacaville woman was arrested on Monday after she allegedly stabbed a business employee, the Vacaville Police Department (VVPD) said. The victim was stabbed in the arm and is expected to survive.

The stabbing happened at a store on the 500 block of Main Street just before 6 p.m. A police investigation revealed that it happened after an argument between the suspect and victim.

The suspect, later identified as Makeda Cairo, 33, was seen trying to leave the business with a tip jar, police said. An altercation followed, which led to the stabbing,

Cairo ran away from the scene after the stabbing, a witness told police. The witness followed the suspect and provided her location to police, who arrested her.

A car “associated with Cairo” was parked near the business where the stabbing happened, police said. Her three children, ages 16, 3 and 1, were inside.

“VVPD officers partnered with Solano County Child Welfare Services to ensure the safety and welfare of the children is addressed,” police said.

Cairo was jailed for counts of assault with a deadly weapon and robbery. Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call (707) 469-4801.
