Woman allegedly kills man for $60 in Cherokee Park robbery, buys wing combo
Memphis Police say it started when they responded to a shooting near Cherokee Park where they found a deceased male.
Investigators released this video to the media for tips showing a woman running away from the scene. The next day, Hayes’s mom, Shante Jones, told police she saw her daughter on the news as a person of interest in a Homicide.
Thursday morning in court, Judge Ronald Lucchesi stated that Hayes’ charge carries a life sentence or death sentence possibly.
Hayes told the police she met the victim at Marathon gas station and agreed to have intercourse for $60. However, she says she never planned on keeping her end of the bargain, instead, she was going to “hit a lick”, which is a common term for robbery.
When asked why she killed the victim she told police she was thirsty for money.

According to the affidavit, she used the $60 to get two hot wing combos for her and her boyfriend and had $13 left.
Now, she has to figure out how she is going to pay her bond and an attorney. While in court Hayes says her brother and mother will hire her a lawyer.
Hayes is scheduled for a bond hearing on Friday morning. If she does not appear with an attorney, Judge Lucchesi says he will appoint a public defender.
