Woman, 75, stabbed in the head in Fordham apartment elevator: NYPD

FORDHAM, The Bronx (PIX11) – A 75-year-old woman was stabbed inside an apartment elevator in Fordham on Sunday, according to the NYPD.

The stabbing happened at a building on Morris Avenue around 11:32 a.m. Police said a 38-year-old man, identified as Edwin Rios, allegedly followed the woman into the elevator.

Rios then allegedly stabbed the woman in the head multiple times, according to authorities.

The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital.

Rios was arrested and charged with attempted murder, according to authorities.

Rios was out on parole, according to police. He was previously charged with attempted murder in an incident in Queens in 2012, police said.
