Woman, 3 children struck by car as they waited to cross Fort Worth street, police say

A car collided with a sport utility vehicle on Sunday before it veered into a woman and her three children standing in a median in south Fort Worth, authorities said.

The pedestrians were struck about 5:45 p.m. near McCart Avenue and Sycamore School Road, Fort Worth police said.

The woman and children were standing in the median of McCart Avenue waiting to cross it when the car, traveling north and approaching the entrance to a Walmart, collided with the SUV whose driver had pulled into the road, police say.

The car then veered into the median and struck the woman, who had a stroller, and the children.

The woman was taken in critical condition to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.

The children were taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center. Two of them were in critical condition. Police did not describe the condition of the third child.
