STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Two 17-year-old girls who testified at the trial of two Ohio high school football players accused of rape say the alleged victim had been drinking that night.

One of the witnesses is a Steubenville High School student. She says the alleged victim was having trouble walking but never appeared to pass out.

The other girl, a friend of the alleged victim, says she had never seen her so intoxicated.

Seventeen-year-old Trent Mays and 16-year-old Ma'Lik Richmond are on trial before a judge.

The case in juvenile court has brought unprecedented attention to the small city of Steubenville (STOO'-behn-vihl) through a barrage of social media and criticism that more students should have been charged.
