The Witcher's Freya Allan was "dreading" returning as Ciri of Cintra in season 4.

While speaking to ComicBook, the actor admitted it was initially a struggle to get in the mood for work, but the energy on set quickly jolted her spirits.

"I was dreading it for a while if I'm honest, but now I'm on it and we have thank God a great director starting us off which has made it so much fun," she said. "There's so much great stuff to play. I'm actually quite happy".

One aspect to the fun will no doubt be the involvement of newcomer Liam Hemsworth, who replaces Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia for the next two seasons.

"He's lovely. Really really sweet. Really grounded person," commented Allan.

Back when his predecessor stepped down from the role, here's what the Hunger Games star had to share: "As a Witcher fan I'm over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I'm honoured that he's handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf's blades for the next chapter of his adventure.

"Henry, I've been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I'm truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world," added Hemsworth.

Hannibal and The Matrix favourite Laurence Fishburne will accompany Hemsworth's monster hunter in his search for Ciri as the character Regis.

The Witcher seasons 1-3 and spin-off The Witcher: Blood Origin are streaming on Netflix. Season 4 is in production.
