Wisconsin now has two wide receivers who are suspended for the start of the season. The Badgers said Wednesday that Danny Davis would be suspended for the first two games of 2018.

“Based on the information I have available to me at this time, I have decided to suspend Danny Davis for the first two games of the season,” Wisconsin coach Paul Chryst said. “Should further information become available that warrants a re-evaulation of the length of the suspension, I will assess that information. We have a high standard of conduct within our football program and we cannot accept behavior that is not consistent with that standard.”

Davis named in complaint vs. Quintez Cephus

Suspended Wisconsin receiver Quintez Cephus is facing a sexual assault charge stemming from an April 22 allegation. A woman said Cephus sexually assaulted her at his apartment and that Davis was a party to the alleged incident. According to the criminal complaint Davis “laughed and took photos of the women” who were intoxicated at Cephus’ apartment.

A district attorney said Monday “I don’t think I can answer that right now” when asked if Davis could face charges regarding the incident.

The accuser said Cephus drove her and a friend to his apartment from a bar that evening. He was sober. From Madison.com:

The woman said she wasn’t sure how it happened, but she remembered that both she and her friend were naked and that Cephus was assaulting them. She said she couldn’t move, and “literally thought I was going in and out of consciousness.”

Cephus also tried to get the two women to have sex with one another, the woman told police.

At one point she woke up on the floor and saw Cephus and Davis taking pictures of her and laughing as she struggled to get up. She said she told Cephus how to delete photos.

Davis had 26 catches for 418 yards in 2017. He and Cephus were Wisconsin’s two projected starters heading into the season.
