Whoever dreamed up Wisconsin-Virginia as a made-for-TV matchup for the ACC-Big Ten Challenge has some real soul searching to do.

Arguably the two most grind-it-out, slow-it-down, play-the-right-way, don’t-entertain-your-viewers programs in college hoops teamed up to give us, well, exactly what one would expect on Monday night. On national TV.

And with the Badgers firmly entrenched in a 49-37 loss to Tony Bennett’s No. 18 Cavaliers, the good folks running Wisconsin’s basketball Twitter handle had the courage to say what was on the minds of anyone forced to watch the game (seriously, who would volunteer to watch this sludge) was surely thinking. Only with love, of course.

For those of you not aware, Jonathan Taylor is Wisconsin football’s stud running back who’s now pushing all-time college greats Adrian Peterson and Ron Dayne in the NCAA rushing record book for freshmen. You know — the kind of athlete that makes watching sports fun.

Alas, Taylor did not suit up in Charlottesville, and nobody was entertained.

The Virginia win gives the ACC a 2-0 edge in the ACC-Big Ten challenge after Syracuse edged Maryland, 72-70 earlier Monday in a game viewers likely enjoyed.

On Wisconsin.
