Wisconsin Students raise $568,251 to battle blood cancer

(WFRV) – Students from eastern Wisconsin completed a seven-week fundraising challenge to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The Student Visionaries of the Year program, a philanthropic initiative focused on leadership development among high school students, raised an impressive $568,251.

The seven-week competition engages students from the Milwaukee metro area, as well as northeast Wisconsin, in a fundraising challenge to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission against blood cancers.

This year, the competition has seen participation from 22 teams comprising 43 candidates in a format that allows up to three students to co-lead a team.

The Student Visionaries of the Year come from Milwaukee. Congratulations to team Survive & Thrive, led by Evi Brickman and Willy Art. This dynamic duo raised over $125,457!

The 1st Runners-Up come from Xavier. Team Ring That Bell led by Gianna Heid, Luke Wolske, and Jenna Bunks raised over $102,375!

Local 5’s Millaine Wells was proud to serve as emcee for the grand finale celebration.
