Wisconsin severe weather threat; strong to severe storms forecast

MILWAUKEE - We have another round of potential severe weather spanning from the Midwest into the deep South this Sunday.

There is a greater threat of strong storms remaining off to our southwest, but there is potential for an isolated stronger storm(s) later tonight. Most of southeast Wisconsin will experience on and off rain through Sunday with periods of heavier rain at times. Accumulations can range between 0.5" to 1.5".

One of the factors that will limit the threat for severe weather is the temperatures. Northeasterly winds will help cool temperatures through Sunday rather than warm them. Low to mid 40s near the lake with low 50s inland during the afternoon. A warm front will lift north into Wisconsin on Sunday evening, helping warm temperatures into the 60s tonight.

As the front lifts north, we could see heavier rain and storms develop in southeastern portions of the state into the pre-dawn hours of Monday. There may be enough energy in the atmosphere late from Sunday late afternoon into Sunday night to support storms. Most will be non-severe, but if a storm is on the strong side, hail and gusty winds will be the primary threats.

Below is a timeline of precipitation chances on Sunday into early Monday.
