Headline - On Day Wisconsin Has Record Number of Tests, Record Number of Confirmed Cases Discovered - the record deaths come from a three day backlog at county coroner offices following the holiday weekend. The reports were finalized Tuesday and then state officials did not report until Wed.
"I have a toddler at home and I’m a full-time nurse so it’s been very stressful and hard to not be able to go out and be with my friends and family at the bars.”
I can find at least three things wrong in just this one sentence.,
Thank you Wisconsin Supreme Court for reopening the state. Now our little town is overrun with people from Chicago (One of the many hotspots in the nation for Covid-19). Sure let's reopen all the hotels, restaurants, shops - let's "suggest" 6' distancing (not happening here), let's "recommend" wearing a mask (not happening here). People are walking shoulder to shoulder - restaurants are crowded, beach was packed this weekend (didn't see much "social distancing" there). NOW we residents that live here and who's Covid confirmed cases and deaths WERE beginning to plateau are now going back up - yes I know more testing so more confirmed cases but please also remember these numbers BEGAN to increase 14 days after our wonderfully dysfunctional Supreme Court declared it's was "unlawful, invalid, and unenforceable".
I am a patient person, and I make a honest effort to see different points of view. But I am sick and tired of seeing people out defying social distancing guidelines and refusing to wear masks. The more we socially distance and use masks to help slow down the spread of Covid 19 the quicker businesses can reopen and the quicker the economy can get on track to recovery. Social distancing and wearing a mask helps everyone, and it is such a simple thing to do. It infuriates me when I see people flaunting the guidelines because they don't "believe in" Covid19, or don't want to inconvenience themselves. A family member of mine is battling stage 3 lung cancer, and he is also on oral chemotherapy. I have not visited him in 3 months now. My heart is breaking because I want so desperately to see him in person, but I know an in person visit could potentially expose him to Covid, which would be fatal to him. I will never get those 3 months I lost with him back. It is infuriating to me that people can't make small sacrifices now so we can slow this virus and possibly contain it so that we can get back to work, back to our loved ones, and back to some sense of normalcy. Pure selfishness on their part.
“I have a toddler at home and I’m a full-time nurse so it’s been very stressful and hard to not be able to go out and be with my friends and family at the bars,”
- This might indicate that there are more severe issues (mental / priorities) by having to 'go out and be ...at the bars'
Wisconsin saw a record number of new coronavirus cases and deaths reported in a single day on Wednesday, two weeks after the state’s Supreme Court struck down its statewide stay-at-home order. Well since it was only two weeks since that order I doubt that many if not all were from people that caught the virus before they lifted that order. Because a new infection can take up to 14 days before symptoms appear. And since they are doing more testing they are going to find more people have it.
I don't like Evers at all, but his comment "One of the most important things you can do to help others is to wear a mask or other face-covering in public," he said. "Wearing a mask shouldn't be a political statement. It isn't controversial, and it's not hard to do." is SPOT ON. Seems so many people are more concerned with liberal vs conservative (democrat vs republican) instead of keeping everyone safe. Stop the politics everyone and just do the right thing.
What they should be doing is giving you the percentage each day who show positive instead of the number of cases. With the number being tested increasing every day in most states it stands to reason you are more likely to have more people to test positive when you test 10,000 vs say 5000. In Wednesday's tests, .058 of the people tested showed positive.
"Wisconsin also issued a record number of test results Wednesday, with more than 10,300 tests conducted". Huh. You give more tests, you're going to find more cases. Who would have thought that?
Even in the 1918 Spanish flu, people were required to wear masks, and supposedly according to historical reports, that flu did wind down in the spring of 1919. It isn't fun to wear masks, but if they prevent an extreme illness or death, maybe it's worth it?
“I have a toddler at home and I’m a full-time nurse so it’s been very stressful and hard to not be able to go out and be with my friends and family at the bars,” Koutski said.
- Perhaps you should go home after work and spend time with your toddler?
There will be a spike in every state as they re-open. The lockdown was t a cure. Follow safety protocols, use common sense, move forward. Live life.
