Wisconsin gas prices continue rising and motorists are feeling the hit to their wallet

(WFRV) – While this mild winter weather has had lower-than-normal prices at the pump, they are still hitting Wisconsin drivers hard.

According to AAA, just one week ago, the average price for regular gas in the state was $2.74 per gallon. On Thursday, the average was $2.90 per gallon. This is still lower than the average last year of $3.19.

With the recent increase inching closer to the 3-dollar mark, some drivers say it is hitting their pockets hard.

Morgan Behrent from Pulaski says, “Usually, Aldi’s becomes my best friend because, unfortunately, it cuts into the food budget. You have to kind of be thriftier, and with five kids, it’s kind of a challenge.”

For some drivers, like Anthony Tremblay and Jack Miron from Green Bay, these prices have taken a toll on their bank accounts, but they know it is a price they must pay to get around.

Miron says, “I don’t really pay that much attention to it because I have to fill the car up anyway, so I just suck it up and fill it up.”

“It makes it tighter when the gas goes up because it’s something you have to pay. It would be nice to have that extra spending money, but if you don’t, you make by,” Tremblay says.

Despite the price being higher in recent weeks, Wisconsin’s average is still below the national average of $3.15 per gallon.
