Wiregrass Pet and Rescue Adoption Center project stalls for two weeks

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — A project in motion to build an animal shelter stalling.

This comes after an issue with the project agreement between the city of Dothan and the Wiregrass Pet Rescue and Adoption Center.

The agreement has changed about five times — the city questioned the money commitment of 6 million dollars

Before now, it was supposed to be capped at five million, they also questioned if the pet rescue and adoption center defaulted on their commitment, and how the shelter would operate.

The commission had more questions than answers and needed more time to gather information about the project before moving forward.

“The role changed in the contract and responsibility and who was going to be responsible for what, so I think it’s great for the commission as a majority to be comfortable about what was presented before making a decision

They will take up this item on the agenda again at the next meeting.
