Here are the top 3 stories in Catonsville today:

  1. Southern Baltimore County, along with several other Maryland counties, is currently under a winter weather advisory until 1 p.m. today, Jan. 3. The National Weather Service predicts 3 to 5 inches of snow will fall in the area. If you are planning to travel into Washington D.C. or Anne Arundel, Howard, Montgomery, or Prince George's counties, be advised that these areas are under a winter storm warning from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and could get up to 7 inches of heavy snowfall. (Patch)

  2. Need a COVID-19 test? Although the Baltimore County Health Department ran out of at-home test kits on Dec. 28, there are two state-run mass testing centers operating in Annapolis and Bel Air. Both locations (UM Upper Chesapeake Health in Bel Air and Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis) are open seven days a week from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. and offer free PCR tests. Results are typically returned within 48 hours. (WBAL-TV)

  3. The Baltimore County Arts Guild and Catonsville Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the Catonsville Sparkle contest on New Year's Eve. This contest was open to all local businesses that wished to decorate their storefront windows for the holiday season. Three Frederick Road businesses were chosen by the contest judges for 1st (El Guapo), 2nd (Bombshell Bling & Beauty Boutique), and 3rd (Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe) place, and Artful Flea Catonsville on Winters Lane was voted by local residents to win the People's Choice Award. Congratulations to the winners! (Baltimore County Arts Guild)
