Winter storm looming for end of week. Here’s how much snow to expect in Kansas City

·1 min read

Two to four inches of snow is expected fall in the Kansas City metro area as a winter storm passes through Friday night into Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Kansas City.

Heavier amounts — between 5 and 7 inches — are expected across northern Missouri along the Iowa border.

The snow may make travel hazardous, especially during the evening and overnight. Blowing snow will be possible early Saturday, reducing visibility at times, the weather service said.

Rain is expected from the storm as it moves into the Kansas City area Friday afternoon. The rain will transition over to snow between 6 p.m. and midnight as temperatures dip below freezing, the weather service said in its forecast discussion.

The storm system is expected to move out of the area by Saturday evening, leaving behind bitter cold and wind chills at or below zero degrees on Sunday morning.
