Winner: Here's who won Rockford Register Star Student of the Week for Feb. 26-March 1

Guilford High School senior Nia Hodges is the winner of this week's Rockford Register Star Student of the Week poll.

Hodges, an Illinois State Scholar, carries a GPA over 4.0 and is a member of National Honor Society. She is also involved in the community interning at State Rep. Maurice West's office. You also may have seen her at Inzombia coffee shop where she was named employee of the year in 2023.

More than 2,250 votes were cast, and Hodges received 36% of the vote.

Other finalists include Freeport's Johanna Rudolph, Boylan's Netavia Wickson and Auburn's Ashley Ferry.

Anyone wishing to nominate a high school student for Student of the Week can send an email to studentoftheweek@rrstar.com by noon Friday. Be sure to include the student's name, age, grade in school, a list of academic and extracurricular achievements, a photo of the student and a couple sentences about why that student deserves to be in Student of the Week.

A list of finalists for Student of the Week publishes online at rrstar.com on Mondays and in print in the Rockford Register Star on Tuesdays.

Readers can vote for who they think deserves the title of Student of the Week in our online poll. You can vote as many times as you want until noon Thursday.

Winners are announced online Friday and in print on Sundays.
