Windy, wet day for Charlotte and mountains on Wednesday

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Gray and rainy was the theme on Tuesday, and it won’t be much different for Wednesday!

A strong cold front will be moving in, kicking up the wind, and bringing some gusty showers and storms for the afternoon and evening. A Wind Advisory has been issued for the mountains through early Thursday morning, with gusts to 55 mph possible. around Charlotte, gusts will be around 40 mph.

We’ll get some dry time in the morning, with some breaks of sunshine helping to boost highs into the 70s again. The band of heavy rain moves in after noon-1 p.m., heading east over the Charlotte metro by the evening drive time.

A few storms are possible, but we’re not expecting severe. A brief period of snow will develop in the mountains as cold air rushes in. It won’t amount to much; up to an inch or so is possible.

Thursday is dry, but don’t get used to it. Another round of widespread rain is on the way for Friday. It’ll be a wet, colder finish to the week, with highs struggling to break out of the 40s!
