Windber contractor heads to Cambria County court charged with fraud

VINCO, Pa. – A Windber contractor will stand trial in Cambria County, accused of accepting money for a home improvement job that he never completed, East Taylor Township police said.

Jeremy Scott Jedrzejek, 44, doing business as Quality Trades Construction LLC, appeared Monday before District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi, of Vinco.

According to a complaint affidavit, Jedrzejek allegedly accepted a job in March that included demolition of a bathroom, a bedroom and a living room at an Echo Road home and then remodeling the rooms. He allegedly never completed the work after the homeowner paid him $14,800.

Jedrzejek signed a contract for the project and began the work in April, but never fully repaired some work, besides drywall, before moving on to other areas.

This destruction reportedly left a bathroom unusable and the home in an unlivable condition due to disconnection of utilities, including electricity, heat and water, the affidavit said.

The homeowner allegedly was unsuccessful in resolving the issues with Jedrzejek on several occasions.

Additionally, project supplies were allegedly removed from a jobsite trailer by Jedrzejek, but the homeowner could not identify what was taken, the affidavit said.

Jedrzejek, of the 1400 block of Paint Street, was charged with two counts each of home improvement fraud and deceptive or fraudulent business practices.
