Wimbledon: 5-time champion Venus Williams advances to final

American Venus Williams showed her trademark poise en route to victory over England’s Johanna Konta in the women’s semifinal of Wimbledon on Thursday.

Williams took advantage of an extremely effective body serve to cruise to the semifinal victory in straight sets 6-4, 6-2.

The 37-year-old, who will have the chance to capture her sixth Wimbledon title on Saturday against Garbiñe Muguruza of Spain, now matches Martina Navratilova as the oldest women to reach a Grand Slam final.

In her post match interview, Williams said she would not hesitate to reach out to her younger sister for some advice before the final.

“One more win would be amazing,” Williams said. “It won’t be a given but I’ll give it my all. I couldn’t have asked for more, but I’ll ask for more. I thought the crowd was so fair. So fair. My experience helped a lot. Garbiñe and I play so well on grass, I’ll have to ask Serena [for some tips] who played her last time. I miss Serena terribly, I wish she was here. I wish she could do this for me!”
