After being unexpectedly ousted from their original location, a Wilmington bar is now close to opening a new Tinyz Tavern in the midtown area. And, they have a third location in the works set to open later this year.

For more than 17 years, Tinyz Tavern served drinks and camaraderie in the Samelin shopping center on South 17th Street near Food Lion. In spring 2023, they learned that the businesses there, including the bar and a P.T.’s Olde Fashioned Grille location, would be shuttered to make way for a Wawa gas station and convenience store.

“It was our flagship,” said Jason Ruth, who owns Tinyz along with Matthew Hall. “I was shocked."

Ruth said they considered moving on from the area. “But really, our regulars there are family,” he said.

Now, the P.T.'s is opening a new location nearby in the Crossroads at Independence shopping center. And it took a while, but Tinyz Tavern found a new spot located less than a mile away from the original. It’s in the shopping center at 800 Shipyard Blvd. that is also home to the Boba Tea Factory and a Mexican restaurant.

They're currently under construction in one of the end units and plan to open in March. They've also continued business at a location at 6756 Gordon Road in the Ogden area.

Later this year, maybe in August, they hope to add a third location in the Hampstead area at Oyster Creek Landing. It’s also an area that’s set to get a new P.T.’s Olde Fashioned Grill.

The Hampstead Tinyz, like the others, will be a neighborhood bar and a place to watch sports and get a drink. It will also be a little larger, at 1,500 square feet.
