A wild camper lost his tent after going for a dusk walk, mountain rescuers have said.

The 19-year-old man had pitched camp on the fells above Ullswater, in the Lake District, on Saturday when he went for an evening stroll.

Patterdale Mountain Rescue said the man was unable to find his tent again after darkness fell so he called for help, with two volunteers going to his aid.

"Although rather embarrassed, the young man was unharmed and so was left to enjoy the rest of his evening and ruminate on a learning experience," a team spokesman said.

The spokesman said they were called just before 22:00 BST by Cumbria Police as the camper had "misplaced" his tent.

The rescue took two hours.
